26th Ward Temple & Family History Committee 2024
Bishop Dyer presides over our ward's sacred Temple and Family History work. He also delegates some of it to the Ward Temple and Family History Committee. Starting over a year ago, leaders from most of our ward organizations have met once a month to help advance the work. Potential temple trips, a Family History class, and ward Family History socials are being discussed.
Feel free to contact members of the Committee with helpful feedback and ideas. Committee members are:
Don Blackburn-- Committee Leader
Jeffery Wilkins--Elders Quorum Counselor
Ronda Jensen--Relief Society Counselor
Laura Snyder--Young Women Second Counselor

Moments
Several of our ward organizations present short "Moments" at the beginning of each gathering. The purpose is to inspire members to participate in temple work and family history activities.
Ward Progress Report
Great news! 30 more of our members submitted a name to the temple to date (January 2023) than last year at this time. Also, 180 members logged in to FamilySearch in 2022, compared to 150 in 2021 and 174 in 2020. Here is a special challenge for our ward: we can significantly improve in indexing.
Reverse Indexing: A Game-like Tool
Try this new tool that is like an easy game. It is called "Reverse Indexing." It helps a computer read your ancestors' handwriting. You just select short handwritten images that don't match. Your input is then sent to FamilySearch.
Have fun! Don't worry about making a mistake-your input will be compared with others for final decisions.
A batch can be completed in just a couple minutes or you can spend as long as you like. To begin, click this link: alpinefhc.org. Then scroll down to the section called "Current Family History Service Opportunities." Click "Reverse Indexing."
There is a short video of instructions when you open the site.
Enjoy!
